Rep spotlight. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We're recognising Sales Leader Melissa Lammas, who talked to us about running her Avon business and her own breast cancer journey. I've loved Avon products for years, but didn't have a Rep so I started my own Avon business 6 years ago. I became a Sales Leader and now have 14 people in my team. I soon gained new customers thanks to my online business. The flexibility of Avon meant I could look after my daughter, meet people locally and earn at the same time. I'd always been aware of Avon's commitment to the breast cancer cause, and I regularly checked myself and encouraged others to do the same. Knowing what's normal to me saved my life. In December 2019, I noticed pain under my armpit. My GP said it was related to breastfeeding, but I pushed for a referral and scans showed a lump in my lymph nodes. A biopsy confirmed it was breast cancer. After surgery to remove it, I'll be having a mastectomy followed by radiotherapy. If I hadn't got it checked, I may not have had the treatment options I do today. I hope my story will encourage people to check regularly, know their normal and not hold back from speaking to a doctor.
